Division Overview: The Development Department has primary responsibility for identifying, cultivating, and acquiring donors, funds, and in-kind resources to support and sustain TASC’s mission work. Fundraising activities include government and foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, planned giving campaigns, individual donations, special events, and fee-for-service contracts.

Position Summary: The Senior Director of Development is responsible for overseeing, planning proactively, and successfully executing a comprehensive fundraising and business development program for our organization. This role plays a key leadership role in ensuring that we fulfill our mission, establish a values-based culture, and achieve financial goals. The Senior Director manages a Development team, including a Director of Grant Development, to drive success and sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Strategic Partnerships & Community Relations to design and execute annual fundraising strategies
  • Develop, optimize, and monitor standard operating procedures for efficient operations
  • Direct the implementation of the annual development plan and strategies for fundraising growth
  • Report fundraising progress to the VP, Strategic Partnerships and participate in Executive Leadership Team meetings
  • Work with the Executive Team to forecast operating budgets based on fundraising targets
  • Manage and support the development team to achieve their goals and empower subcontractors
  • Innovate revenue-enhancing ideas and oversee staff hiring, development, and performance management

Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Major Gifts, Corporate Giving & Grants:

  • Connect the organizational mission to investors' philanthropic goals
  • Design and implement strategies for annual giving programs, corporate giving, and securing grants
  • Develop proposals, cultivate relationships with funders, and manage grant applications and reporting requirements

Business Development and Strategic Partnerships:

  • Expand funding relationships and strategic partnerships with stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities with new business partners for service contracts and initiatives
  • Raise awareness of the organization and its impact through community engagement activities
  • Stay informed of industry trends to guide the organization's mission and strategy

Development and Philanthropic Communications:

  • Collaborate on a development-focused communications strategy with the Marketing Department
  • Manage donor communications for strategic fundraising opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred; CFRE certification a plus
  • Minimum of five years of fundraising experience in organizations with budgets exceeding $18M
  • Proven track record in prospecting, cultivating, and stewarding supporters, with knowledge of fundraising best practices
  • Three years of managerial experience in a nonprofit setting
  • Proficiency in utilizing fundraising platforms and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire action through storytelling
  • Collaborative, resourceful team player who thrives in dynamic environments
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communicate inclusively.

The agency currently offers hybrid work schedules that combines in-office and remote work. Employees are required to report to the work site three days per week with the option to work up to two days remotely.
